5 Foods That Aid In Reducing Belly Fat & Getting You A Flatter Stomach

April 15, 2016

Even women who take pride in their appearance can suffer from the scourge that is belly fat, and look for ways to get rid of it.

You can take your own steps to get rid of belly fat by making small changes to your diet that will yield major results. It’s more than simple aesthetics, as a large amount of belly fat puts you at a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and even strokes.

Here are five foods that will act as fat burners, which you can incorporate into an anti-belly fat diet.

Oats

Fibre rich food helps to build less visceral fat and oats are an ideal form of carbohydrates and energy, so they’ll fill you up without the fat. Try to find a way to include oats or another high fibre food like whole grains, beans, legumes or vegetables that still have their skin in your diet. To avoid the gas and bloating that sometimes goes with it, drink eight glasses of water a day.

Lean meat

Protein is essential if you want to build muscle and keep your cells healthy. Make sure you have lean meat, or eggs and nuts if you don’t like to eat much meat, to give you the fuel to keep going through the day. Just make sure you keep the fat to a minimum; lean chicken breasts with the skin removed are an ideal way to keep fighting fit and are one way to lose belly fat.

Fruit

Low in fat, high in vitamins and nutritious, fruit is an exceptional food source for burning belly fat. Its high water content means it is filling without any meaningful calories, and it’s packed with vitamins, minerals and more. Raspberries get special mention thanks the ketones that have become a fat burning foods fad of late, so if you're set on losing belly fat then these could help.

Vegetables/salad

There’s a lot to be said for eating vegetables as the bulk of your evening meal, and you should absolutely make cruciferous vegetables like spinach, kale and celery part of your normal everyday meals. If you’re struggling with belly fat then fill up on these as well as carrots, peppers and other vegetables, and you won’t take useless calories on board. Leave the skins on and they will come packed with nutrition too. Potatoes are the exception, as they are loaded with carbs.

Olive oil

If you have lots of salad and vegetables then you’ll need some form of dressing, but don’t slather it in high-fat caesar dressing or you’ll undo your good work. Make your own dressing from olive oil and balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, chilli and other fat-free additives. If you're wondering how to lose belly fat, this is a good, effective way.
