November 15, 2017

We all know about the fact that we aren’t supposed to eat too late in the evening - an early dinner shall make you slimmer, as they say.
While this is definitely true, you sometime crave those post-dinner snacks that keep you going until bed time.

Fortunately, these snacks don’t need to be unhealthy or add to your waistline.

We’ve shared 5 low-calorie snacks that will help you stay full longer during the evenings:

Sliced bananas and raspberries

Fruits are always a great snack as they are low in calories and high in nutritional benefits.

A cup of sliced bananas and raspberries will keep you full and satisfied the entire evening - it’s only 100 calories!

You can even add variety by adding a handful of pomegranate seeds (they’re good antioxidants), and Greek yogurt or low-fat pudding.

Nuts

Nuts are high in protein and monounsaturated fat that’ll help you stay full longer, and improve your cholesterol levels.

Pistachios are perfect evening snacks.

Cottage Cheese

Cottage cheese is an ideal choice for a nighttime snack, as it’s high in protein but low in carbs!

Another substitute for cottage cheese is either greek yogurt, or skimmed milk with a cup of whole grain cereal.

Vegetables

Cucumber, carrots, asparagus, and broccoli are perfect for healthy late-night snacks.

Dip them in plain Greek yogurt or cottage cheese for extra flavor!

Whole Grain Crackers

Grains are rich in fiber, and an excellent snack to keep you full for hours. Eat whole grain crackers with fruits, yogurt, or a thin spread of peanut butter to add texture and sweetness.

If you still find yourself wanting to snack continuously in the evening, or if you notice that you’re consuming as many calories snacking as you would in a meal, you’d want to consider making changes to your routine.

Try eating slightly more calories in your meals throughout the day, and see if your evening cravings subside.

However, if you’re still finding it difficult to avoid overeating before bedtime, consult one of our nutritionists. We can help tailor a fitness and nutritional plan suitable for your body and lifestyle needs.
